What is Remember Me Thursday® and why does it matter?
As stated on the official website: Remember Me Thursday® is a global awareness campaign uniting individuals and pet adoption organizations around the world as an unstoppable, integrated voice for orphan pets to live in forever homes, not die waiting for them.
Celebrated on the third Thursday of September (this year is September 26, 2019) the entire world will share the importance of pet adoption, and shine a light on all orphan pets waiting in shelters and rescues.

My family and I have rescued 5 out of 6 of our dogs. Our first dog was purchased from a pet store in 1995, way before we realized the impact of adoption. And we’ve fostered 13 dogs and counting.
I love each and every one of our dogs, they each deserved the best life could offer. But imagine if we didn’t adopt these dogs and no one else wanted them… what would have happened to them?
According to the ASPCA: “Each year, approximately 1.5 million shelter animals are euthanized (670,000 dogs and 860,000 cats).”
I can’t imagine my dogs not living long enough to find their forever home. Nor can I imagine all our foster dogs never finding a great home to call their own. Each one a loving, sweet dog that deserves to have a family.
So yes, adopting a rescue matters. Rescue dogs lives matter. Every living creature deserves the very best in life.
